NEW Assistant Principals for Nanton and Fort Macleod

Livingstone Range School Division is pleased to announce the selection of assistant principals for two Division schools for the 2018-2019 school year.

Mr. Roger Doucet will move into the role of Assistant Principal, J.T. Foster School, beginning in September 2018.

Doucet has been a teacher at J.T. Foster since 2008, instructing classes in Social Studies, English Language Arts, Humanities and courses within the Career and Technology Studies stream. Prior to joining Livingstone Range School Division, Doucet taught at other schools in Alberta and Manitoba, including Francophone and French as a Second Language curriculum, and he is fluent in French.

In addition to his teaching duties, Doucet has been involved in numerous events and initiatives including High School Redesign, LRSD Divisional Day, and the Alberta Initiative for School Improvement. He has mentored school staff on the use of new digital tools such as Pinnacle, PowerSchool and school and teacher websites. Doucet is a self-professed computer geek and politics aficionado who believes strongly in lifelong learning.

“I am excited to continue in my new role as assistant principal for J.T. Foster School,” says Doucet. “I am very privileged to be working in this great community. The opportunity of helping build strong relationships between the community and the school is an exciting venture.”

Doucet earned a B.Ed. at the University of Alberta and a M.Ed. at the University of Lethbridge, focusing on Educational Leadership.

Leanne Feller is another teacher moving into an administrative role, becoming the new Assistant Principal at W.A. Day School in Fort Macleod this September. Feller has been with Livingstone Range since 1996, when she taught first grade at W.A. Day.  She also taught grades 4, 5 and 6 at G.R. Davis School between 1997 and 2014, returning to W.A. Day in 2014 as a learning support teacher. She has been Acting Assistant Principal at the school since fall of 2017.

Activities and initiatives Feller has participated in, additional to her teaching and administrative duties, include School Based Literacy, Curriculum Redesign, School Based Nutrition and the Student Leadership Team. She is an Alberta Education Excellence in Teaching Award nominee and was nominated for the Pan Canadian Excellence in Teaching Award for three consecutive years.

Feller is honoured to be able to continue on in the role of Assistant Principal at W.A. Day.

“I am passionate about continuing the leadership and learning opportunities for our students, and dedicated to ensuring the success of our school, our students, the staff and the community as a whole, Feller says.  “I look forward to continuing on our leadership journey together in our pursuit of excellence.”

Feller was an honours graduate at F.P. Walshe High School and earned a combined B.A./B.Ed. degree, with distinction, at the University of Lethbridge. She is preparing to enroll in a master’s program through the University of New Brunswick in the 2018-2019 year.

Deputy Superintendent Ken Sampson is pleased to welcome Roger Doucet and Leanne Feller to their new positions on behalf of the Division.

"We are confident that both Leanne and Roger will bring enthusiasm and passion for educating our students to their individual positions, moving their respective schools even further ahead," says Sampson.
